A perfect introduction into the Kanak Culture. There’s no better way to apprehend the complex Melanesian civilization than a Private Guided Tour through the iconic Tjibaou Cultural Centre. Once you have learnt about the intriguing history you will be guided through some of Noumea’s oldest neighbourhoods and stop off at some of the best lookouts!

Manu, the owner of Nekweta Lodge will take you out on his boat to teach you about the protected loggerhead turtles that nest in the area. This is the 2nd largest nesting site in the world, the first being Mon Repos Beach in Northern QLD for this particular species. You will end the day by planting a tree to help preserve their nesting spots, followed by a delicious lunch served at the lodge.

Visit a real life Melanesian Tribe and be led by the chief himself, Jehudit who will show you around his home and introduce you to his family. Together you will prepare the local Kanak dish called a Bougna, which is a dish you can’t leave New Caledonia without trying! You will learn about medicinal plants, petroglyphs and the local customs of his tribe!

Nowhere else in New Caledonia will you enjoy such a contract of colours, ranging from the dark blue of the sea, to the sharp red of the iron-rich soils making the South so unique! Your guide who has family ties with some villages in the South will bring you to places you could not have imagined exploring by yourself! Enjoy a full course lunch by a nice seaside tribal restaurant.
