About this trip

Built in 1984, then refurbished in 2013 The Spirit of Enderby is an ice strengthened expedition vessel that carries 50 passengers. There are 6 cabin and suite types, all with ocean views. Main deck triple and twin cabins have shared facilities, whilst the superior/mini/heritage suites have private bathrooms. The vessel features a combined bar/library, lounge area, lecture room as well as two dining rooms on board. Sumptuous meals are prepared by top NZ and Australian chefs, whilst the expedition guides bring skills to the areas visited. This is ideal for those wanting more time ashore.

Days 1 - 13 SAMPLE ITINERARY AS FOLLOWS:
Sub Antarctic Islands
Day 1 New Zealand
Enjoy a welcome dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2 Sub Antarctic Islands
Embark and set sail. (B, L, D)
Day 3 The Snares
Spend today discovering The Snares (North East Island) which has more nesting seabirds than all of the British Isles put together. (B, L, D)
Day 4 Enderby Island
Explore Enderby Island, a great birding location where you will get the opportunity to see the Southern Royal Albatross, the Northern giant petrel and parakeets. Sandy Bay on the Auckland Islands, is one of three breeding grounds for the rare Hooker’s Sea Lion. (B, L, D)
Day 5 Carnley Harbour
This morning you will visit Carnley Harbour which has a deep history and has witnessed many shipwrecks that tell of human suffering. (B, L, D)
Day 6 Southern Ocean
Today you will make your way through an area known as the Furious Fifties in the tumultuous Southern Ocean and spend time exploring. (B, L, D)
Days 7 - 8 Southern Ocean
Be on the lookout for four species of penguins, as well as hundreds of Southern Elephant Seals that laze about on the beaches and dunes.
Day 9 Campbell Island
Enjoy briefings and lectures on Campbell Island. (B, L, D)
Days 10 - 11 Perserverance Harbour
Spend two days exploring Perserverance Harbour by foot taking in the rocky islets and sea stacks. Enjoy an easy walk to the nesting site of the Southern Royal Albatross at Col Lyall or walk across the hills to Northwest Bay and see the strange and beautiful mega herbs growing on the hills.
Day 12 Southern Ocean
Spend the day sailing back to land. (B, L, D)
Day 13 New Zealand
On arrival you will disembark (B)
